::: "Meet Madeline Carroll and Callan McAuliffe of Rob Reiner's newest flick Flipped ..." The two stars chatted with Time Out Kids about first crushes and going retro in their roles. The interview came with some new stills from the film, check it out!

Flipped is about young love. Have either of you had a boyfriend or girlfriend?
CM I’ve had a girlfriend. Not anymore, because it’s kind of hard to do long distance.
MC No. I have three brothers, and they’d torture me if I ever told them I liked a boy.

Any relationship advice for your peers?
CM I’m not very good at relationships, but my advice is to go for it.
MC Callan, does it suck for a boy to be stuck in the “friends zone”?
CM I went to an all-boys school, so there haven’t been many “friend zone” situations for me yet.

The film is set in the 1950s. Do you think your relationship will resonate with kids your age?
MC I think it’s pretty accurate. It’s the same as today. We just have different ways of communicating now.
CM And we wear less-awesome clothes.

So you liked the film’s retro outfits?
MC I liked the high-water pants—they were fun to wear, but I think if you wore them to school nowadays, you’d get beat up.
CM Yeah, you’d definitely get punched in the head.

::: Check out a new article about Rob Reiner that came with the release of the trailer for "Flipped". It has some interesting information about the film and some really nice things about Maddy!

Callan McAuliffe, 15, is Bryce, who declines the affections of eccentric neighbor Juli, played by Madeline Carroll, 14, when they are second-graders. But in junior high, she is the one put off by his lack of character.

"I needed to get a boy who was attractive and also had an intelligent quality," Reiner says. "I was having a hard time until I found him in Australia — on tape. He did a perfect American accent."

Carroll was the first actress to audition for Juli, a family-oriented tomboy. Turns out others didn't need to apply. Says Reiner, "I liked her as Kevin Costner's daughter in Swing Vote, and when I saw her tryout, I thought, 'That's Juli. She is the one.' "

TeenHollywood: Farren in "Spy" is pretty sour and "difficult" even though we understand why. Is it fun to play teens like that and are you ever that way?

Mad: I sometimes am, especially to my brothers. We fight a lot. I have one older brother and two younger brothers. Sometimes I pull that "sour and difficult" thing with my brothers but it doesn't go too well and they beat me up. But it was fun filming those scenes (where she is "difficult"). In the scenes where I'm chewing gum, I really was in rehearsals so they told me to use it in the scene.

TeenHollywood: Did you like any of Farren's wardrobe in "Spy"? Was there anything you would wear?

Mad: Yeah, there was a purple-colored hat with a button on it from Urban Outfitters and also some of the skirts I really liked. I liked how I got to have my hair fixed. In my other movies, like Swing Vote, I was supposed to be really plain and more tomboy so it was fun to have my hair and make-up done for "Spy".

TeenHollywood: Teens wonder what film actors do all day when they aren't making a film. What is a typical day like for you from beginning to end?

Mad: Usually, when I wake up I'll do some home school. Then I will help my mom with the house and usually I'll have an audition and I'll go to that. If it's Wed. nights after an audition I'll usually go to church, then I'll come home and try and catch one of my favorite TV shows then I'll read my bible and go to bed.

::: Melfi's "Roshambo" wins Best Comedy at Malibu

GARTNER director, Theodore Mefi's short film "Roshambo" took home top comedy honors at the 11th annual Malibu International Film Festival past weekend.

"Roshambo" is a mocumentary that follows three contestants vying for 800 dollar in prize money at the Van Nuys Semi-Regional Championship of Roshambo (Rock, Paper, Scissors) Melfi wrote, directed and produced the fim with partners James Graves, Kimberly Quinn and Seth Mitchell. The film's Executive Producers were Don Block and Rich Carter of Block/Carter Films.

::: "Flipped" just scored a glowing first review with the LA Times. Apparently, the release date of the newest Rob Reiner flick has been moved up thanx to the amazing reception from its early screenings. The article also contains a beautiful quote on our favourite leading lady ... ! Check out a few things below, the rest of the article is mostly about one person of the cast.

I'm not taking any credit for this myself, but Warner Bros. has been getting such an enthusiastic reception from its early screenings of the new Rob Reiner film, "Flipped," that the studio is moving the movie up from its original Sept. 17 release date to sometime in early August.

I saw the film the other night and was knocked out. It's a great return to form for Reiner, who co-wrote and directed the story about the topsy-turvy relationship between two mismatched eighth graders set in the 1950s. Maybe it's the period, maybe it's the sweetness of the story, but it certainly took me back to the early years of Reiner's career, when he was making such affecting films as "Stand By Me" and "The Princess Bride."

"Flipped" is loaded with nice performances, both from its two young leads -- Madeline Carroll and Callan McAuliffe -- as well as a host of character actors like John Mahoney, Aidan Quinn and Penelope Ann Miller who fill out the ensemble cast.

::: Wendelin Van Draanen, the author of the book "Flipped" wrote a few interesting things about the film on her personal blog. The release date of "Flipped" might change to somewhere during summer vacation. That's pretty exciting huh? She also wrote some good things about the film, read it below:

"The Flipped movie is wonderful! And Thursday night's cast and crew screening at Warner Brothers studio was so much fun. (I was told at the party that the movie may come out sooner than September--obviously it would make sense to release it when kids are out of school--I'll be sure to let you know when I know more.) INSPIRE A LITTLE LOVE EVENT

Madeline will be attending the “Inspire a Little Love” event held by Inspire magazine and “To Write Love on Her Arms.” With the help of celebrity figures, the event is to raise awareness for those suffering from depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.

Held in Downtown Los Angeles at Club 740, the event begins from 5 PM – 9 PM on April 16, 2010. “Inspire a Little Love” will only be admitting guests above 10-years-old. Snacks and drinks will be provided for paid guests while a bar will be open for customers.

There will be raffles for items such as gift certificates, gift bags, and even autographs.

Tickets are on sale for $25 and proceeds will be donated to the charity, “To Write Love on Her Arms.” You can find out more information on the event and how to purchase tickets at InspireTeen.com.

So you’ve been to red carpet events! What do you like most about the red carpet events?
It’s so much fun! Getting your picture taken, having people take pictures with you, giving interviews….its just the whole thing. It’s so exciting.

Of all the roles you’ve played so far, which has been your favorite?
This one, because I get to play the mean girl and I like playing the mean girl, especially to Jackie! [Laughs]

It’s not in your nature to be mean, then?
No. I can be kinda silly or outgoing, but I’m usually quiet and I’m not mean. I like to make sure that everybody’s happy.

So when you’re playing a mean girl, who do you model yourself after?
I just kind of try to make it up by myself. I saw the movie Mean Girls and I loved that movie; I actually loved it. It’s my favorite.

Do people at school treat you differently now that you’re a celebrity?
Well, some people do, but in a good way. But my old friends treat me the same because they know I’m always going to be their friend. It’s kinda funny going from being someone who people ask to take a picture with and then back at school they’re like “pass the ketchup!” I really like public school, though.

Carroll who had starred in “Swing Vote” in 2008 and “Astro Boy” in 2009 is a busy teenager. Underrated for who she is, Carroll was just grateful “that Josh Stern took a chance on [her]. [She] wasn’t a ‘name’” yet. This young actress seized her opportunity and more projects rolled into her hands in the coming years. Carroll could only exclaim how “blessed” and “thankful” she is for all the work she has been able to do.

Madeline went to the Youth Run For Haiti to help support the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. She posed with Sammi Hanratty, I've added two pictures to the gallery but more are coming up!

Madeline is going to be in a new movie called "Roshambo". It's a short comedy about three 'athletes' who compete for the Rock, Paper, Scissors semi-regional championships in Van Nuys, California.

Also, once more, Maddy does not have a twitter or a facebook. @Maddy_Carroll is a fake. Maddy does not have an account. If she gets one, you will read it on here.

Summary: Based on Wendelin Van Draanen's young-adult novel and set between 1957-63, the story revolves around the confusing romantic developments of antagonistic boy and girl neighbors who eventually share a kiss when they reach their teens.

Analysis: Rob Reiner tries his hand at pre-teen romance in this adaptation of the award-winning Van Draanen standalone book. Shot quickly over the Summer and already pretty much finished, it's surprising that Warners isn't going earlier with it. However a ground up campaign with a lot of early buzz-generating screenings may be in order for something like this which won't have any reach beyond the 'wholesome family' demographic.

Madeline attended the Variety's Power of Youth event yesterday and looked so pretty! She has gotten a lot older ... you can tell! Unfortunately, I haven't found many pictures yet, but you can already check out a few in the gallery.

I've added 181 screencaptures of Maddy in "NCIS" to the gallery. She was pretty much in all of the episode ... so I'm gonna need some more time to make clips. But I will get them up tomorrow, for sure! She was simply brilliant, and I can't wait to show you all how well she did. As for now, enjoy the screencaptures!

Maddy attended the "New Moon" premiere in LA yesterday! How cool is this?! That really makes her a big star ... ! She looked stunning & stylish as always. I've added several images to the gallery already, but I'm hoping to find more soon ... so keep checking!

Madeline has booked a guest role on "NCIS", congrats Maddy! =). She will be in episode 7.09 CHILD'S PLAY, airing November 24, 2009. I've already added a promotional image to the gallery. Make sure to take a look. Here's a short synopsis:

A dead Marine's day job at a government think tank leads Gibbs and the team into the life of a 12-year-old prodigy who may be the killer's next target. The team must put their Thanksgiving plans on hold when the horrific death of a Marine leads them a to a government think tank that employs child prodigies.
